Software offers the kind of control it would take thou$ands in hardware to match and once you get over the steep initial learning curve it's easier and quicker to program for new fixtures. it should be an option you consider if for no other reason than cost which would be well within your budget. I agree with the others about computer control. I had an old Dell laptop with a flaky USB port that I used for Freestyler and it would occasionally lose contact with the dongle if the cable was moved, but that was a hardware problem the software itself has never presented a problem even with the early releases. I'd like to get a decent controller, but not something too huge, hopefully somewhere around the $200 and under range.Īlso, what do you guys think about the ADJ Mega Bar LED? Now, at significant clubs and festivals where they use 50 of them, it's quite spectacular, but for something smaller. I understand that the larger beam is nice for big arenas, but for smaller clubs and such, I just have issues seeing the value in them.
I just can't see the justification of such a big and costly unit for a single beam of light, causing me to need to purchase 6 or so of them to achieve a significant show. I have been thinking of getting some cans.
